The jump starter arrived very quickly and in good condition. I got this system for my wife after she spent 90 min trying to get someone to jump start her car recently. However, there are two issues folks need to know about before they buy this unit. First, You will need an extension cord (with only one female connector) to charge this unit. It does not come with a plug as part of the unit and the male prongs are inset in the unit preventing you from using a strip extension cord. Second, I would recommend also getting the 12V DC male-to-male connector. This will allow you to charge the unit in the car, while it is running of course, and it will allow you to jump start the car using the 12V plug. You can either make your own or I found one from Schumacher (SAC-109 part number). By the way, it does come with a plug-in light that can fit into the 12V adapter.

It provides extra power that 12 amp units just can't provide, making it perfect for truck and heavy duty applications. With the PS-400-3A you can make sure you're never stranded with a dead battery again. Forget about flagging down a stranger for help or fumbling with unruly jumper cables, the PS-400-3A is a rugged jumpstarter that will charge your battery and get you back on the road. And if you can't stay away from your work while you're out of the office, you can even count on the Schumacher to provide standard 12-volt power -- plug in your laptop or other devices just like you would at home.
Safety and Convenience Features
The PS-400-3A is loaded with safety and convenience features, including a reverse hookup protection to safeguard the car battery, computer, and Instant Power from damage in case the cables are connected to the wrong terminals. An audible alarm warning sounds when clamps are reversed or touched together.

The PS-400-3A gives you portable power to jumpstart nearly any battery. The jump starter on/off switch shuts off the internal battery at the clamps for added safety, eliminating accidental shorting of the clamps. A 12-volt power outlet allows you to operate any number of 12-volt devices. Its extra wide base provides maximum stability and safety.
Easy to Use
To revive a dead battery, simply connect the PS-400-3As two cables to the battery terminals of the stranded car and turn the key. After providing a jump (or every few months, if stored), the unit should be recharged by plugging it into a wall outlet with the included cord. The sealed lead-acid battery provides enough power to operate a cellular phone for 30-plus hours, a depth finder for 21 hours, or a camcorder for 12 hours.
Features
The display is comprised of easy-to-read battery status LEDs, which tells you when internal battery is at full power, 75 percent charged, or at 50 percent or less. A simple push of the button instantly turns on the display. The heavy duty, copper jaw, 300 amp, metal clamps are designed for solid connections to top and side post batteries. The #4 gauge, 28-inch cable stays flexible in the coldest temperatures. The LED indicator lets you know whether the unit is in charging or charged mode to help easily monitor the status of the internal battery.
Durable and Easy to Store
The PS-400-3A is rust and corrosion proof, featuring a one-piece construction and a polypropylene case which resists fuels and solvents. Storage mounts on the back of unit keep the clamps in place for safety when not in use.
Warranty
Every Schumacher power source comes with a one-year limited warranty (90 days on battery).
